Allies for Community Business

Allies for Community Business provides the capital, coaching, and collaboration entrepreneurs need to grow great businesses in their communities.

About

Allies for Community Business (A4CB) supports small businesses that strengthen their communities. We provide the capital, coaching, and collaboration entrepreneurs need to succeed. As a nonprofit located on Chicago’s West Side, we prioritize Black, Hispanic/Latinx, women, and low-income entrepreneurs throughout the Chicagoland area and beyond.

Allies for Community Business offers loans between $500 and $100,000 to early, emerging, and established businesses at fair prices. We are a little different from other lenders: we do not use credit scores and do not judge the value of your personal assets. Instead, we evaluate how well you have managed your debts over the past two years and how much cash you have available to make monthly loan payments to us. That's it.

A4CB frequently manages grant programs with partners who share our mission to provide funds to business owners who will put those dollars to good use in their communities.

In addition, A4CB provides free 1:1 coaching to anyone who wants to start or grow a business. We will listen first as you describe what you are trying to accomplish with your business, what challenges you are seeking to overcome, and how you think we can help. We will dedicate as much time to your business as you need, and our coaching is always free. We also provide coaching via business classes in-person and online and via group cohort programs like the Neighborhood Entrepreneurship Lab.

Finally, A4CB provides specialized services through our collaborations with partners. We can issue you the business license you need to operate legally in the City of Chicago through our Regional Business Center. We can help your food and beverage business secure space at The Hatchery, which is the 67,000 square foot state-of-the-art incubator we co-own and call home. We can help you secure your Women-owned Business Enterprise (WBE) or Minority-owned Business Enterprise (MBE) certification, and we can then help you find contract opportunities with our institutional partners.
