Without a doubt, Hispanic entrepreneurs are making substantial contributions in Chicago’s business community every day. In celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month, we reflect on the growing impact of Hispanic and Latinx entrepreneurs in our Chicago neighborhoods. The Latinx community is the second-largest ethnic group in the City of Chicago and Latina business owners are on the rise now more than ever. Their entrepreneurial spirit is in full force, as evidenced by the leadership of Hannah Fernandez, CEO of ROI Business Funding, a Chicago-based company that helps entrepreneurs obtain alternative sources of funding. Hannah is a strong advocate for women and minorities in business.
Latinx business leaders continually infuse the community with innovation, creativity and a drive for excellence. The Little Village Chamber of Commerce is yet another example of Latina-driven leadership, as they work closely with business and community leaders, government agencies, law enforcement, corporate partners, elected officials and others to address the issues that affect our community. In support of their work, the Neighborhood and Strategic Initiatives staff convened a team of professionals to provide pro-bono services to the Chamber to address the challenges of retail growth and corridor revitalization.
